Mission Program Manager
Basic Function: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Programs Manager oversees Komen North Central Alabama's mission initiatives which include education/outreach, volunteer, grants, and public policy programs. These programs are critical to addressing the organization's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
The ideal candidate has experience working within the North Central Alabama health community. Additionally, the candidate has proven success in building strong relationships with community organizations, volunteers, lay health community leaders, colleagues and the health care community in general. Ms. Zahariadis has served as Executive Director of the Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama Affiliate since 2005, and oversees the operation of Affiliate and its work throughout its 38 county service area. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board of Directors, Zahariadis is responsible for the overall management of the affiliate including business operations, administration, educational programming, development, strategic planning, budget planning and management, risk managementand public and community relations. Prior to moving to Alabama, Zahariadis was Director of Program Development and Promotion at The New School for Social Research in New York where she established new academic paths, merging theory with practice to expand the University’s Graduate Program. Zahariadis also served as Director of Special Services at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Under her leadership, the first office for student special services and ADA compliance was established. Ms. Zahariadis received a bachelor’s degree in Classical Culture from University of Georgia and a Master of Arts degree in Classical Greek also from the University of Georgia.
