Participating in the Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama Race for the Cure® with a team multiplies the fun, the laughter and maybe even the tears that you share on Race Day. Rally around someone you know who was just diagnosed, someone who has fought the battle, or someone who may have lost the battle. Together, with your friends, family and co-workers, you make an even greater impact than you could alone.

Teams are the heart and soul of the Race. They not only contribute to the event's spirit and sense of community, but also provide a significant source of revenue by raising large amounts of pledge dollars.

Just follow these easy steps:

  • Choose a Team Captain
  • Give the team a name - make it fun if you want, we love clever team names
  • Register your team
  • Recruit at least 10 members (including the captain)
  • Set a goal, think BIG! and FUNDRAISE!
  • Run breast cancer out of town on October 17th!

One of your greatest resources is your Particpant Center that provides email templetes to recruit team members and request donations from friends & family! Directions for logging into your Participant Center are available here.

The Team Captain must register first and create the team before team members can join the team. A team is a group of 10 or more participants who register under a common team name. Any company, family, group of friends, club, community organization, school, or faith group can form a team. Team captains recruit team members for your team, encourage team participation and fundraising, and organize events for your team. You help your team members have the tools they need to raise donations and recruit more team members!

Fun Fact: In 2014 there were over 400 participating teams (which made up 53% of overall participants) and teams accounted for 64% of total fundraising!

Team Box Inclusion Deadlines for Packet Pick-up

If you chose to have your team members packets boxed together, the Team Box Inclusion deadline for pick-up at Brookwood Village members must register for your team by Friday, October 2nd.  Team members joining your team AFTER October 2nd will NOT have their packets in the team box and will have to pick up their packets at Brookwood Village during the week of October 12th - 16th.

The packets of members joining AFTER Oct. 2nd will NOT be included in your Team Box.  This means that anyone can join your team and fundraise for your team up until the day of the Race!  Please be sure to inform all prospective team members of this info!

Key Dates and Deadlines:

Oct. 2nd

Deadline for team members to join a Team for Team Box Inclusion (team members can still join a team after the 26th but their participant packets will not be included in the Teams Box)

 October 9th

Deadline for offline donations to be accepted towards Team Award Prizes

(offline donations will gladly be accepted after the 3rd but will not count towards your team tally for Award Prizes, online donations will count towards Team Awards until Friday, October 10th at 6 p.m.)

 October 12th - 16th

 Tshirt and packet Pick-up at Brookwood Village (upper level by Belk Dept. Store)

 October 17th

 Race for the Cure!

Official Team Insignias

Use of the Komen logo or Race for the Cure logo is prohibited for Race for the Cure teams.  We do however offer four Official Team T-Shirt Insignias for your use.

To use the below logos simply right click on the desired image and click "Save Image As" then save to your computer.
