The following organizations represent just some of the local resources available within the North Central Alabama Affiliate area to assist breast cancer patients and family members. By listing the following institutions and companies as resources, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, North Central Alabama Affiliate does not intend to recommend them over any others. All groups are listed in alphabetical order. If you would like breast health educational materials for a community event or program, please fill out the Educational Materials Request Form or call our office at 205.263.1700

*Materials will be limited to 100 per organization (50 in the month of September and October), but are also available for free download

Request a Speaker or Health Fair Representative

 A great way to bring the message of breast health to your friends, co-workers and family is to request a Komen speaker to come to your office, home or religious organization. We do our best to provide speakers and materials at health fairs and other events when requested; however we cannot guarantee these services. Submitting your request as far in advance as possible increases the chance of availability for your event as we rely heavily on our volunteer database. We request that you submit your request at least 3 weeks from your event date.

Other Resources

Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (ABCCEDP):  The ABCCEDP provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings for women who meet eligibility guidelines.  Free services include a pelvic exam, pap smear, clinical breast exam, mammogram, and diagnostic services such as an ultrasound, colposcopy, or biopsy, if needed. The American Cancer Society's (ACS) Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge in Birmingham, Ala., offers a solution to cancer patients who must undergo treatment far from home. The Hope Lodge provides housing free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis to cancer patients and their families during their course of treatment. The lodge not only reduces the financial burden, but also provides a much-needed supportive environment.
